Philip Goodhew
Director/Writer Philip Goodhew is a
well-established actor and theatre director and producer. He
was brought up in Chester and received a BA in Drama at
Manchester University. He adapted and directed "Madam
Bovary" and "Notes From the Underground". He appeared in
London with Kenneth Branagh in "The Gamblers". "Intimate
Relations" is his feature directorial debut. He has had
leading roles in "Good And Bad Games", with Rupert Graves, a
film by Jack Gold, "Juliet Brave", "Collectors", "Boots and
Saddles", "Old Boys" and a starring role in
"Crossroads".
In 1994, Goodhew attended the NYFA
and wrote and directed the shorts "Requiem", "Frogs" and
"Strange Dreams". In 1995, in order to produce and direct
his own work, he and producer Angela Hart formed Boxer
Films.
Julie Walters
Considered a national treasure in
England, Walters is well known for her role of Rita in Willy
Russell's "Educating Rita", for which she won a BAFTA, a
Golden Globe, a Variety Club Award and an Oscar nomination.
Other starring film roles include Terry Jones' "Personal
Services" (BAFTA nomination), Stephen Frear's "Prick Up Your
Ears", Lewis Gilbert's "Stepping Out" with Liza Minelli, and
Nancy Meckler's "Sister My Sister".
Her theatre roles include Sam
Shepard's "Fool For Love" (Oliver nomination for Best
Actress), "When I Was a Girl I Used to Scream and Shout", by
Sharman McDonald, Terence McNally's "Frankie and Johnnie",
and Tennessee Williams' "The Rose Tattoo", directed by Peter
Hall.
Julie Walters on Marjorie
Beasley:
"Marjorie is a woman who you
would never, in your wildest dreams, expect to be having the
kind of affair she is having with this lodger. Marjorie is
puzzling and very interesting and goes through this
sociopathic behavior to get what she wants. She has

Rupert Graves
Graves is well-known to Britain's
National Theatre for his performances in "'Tis A Pity She's
A Whore", "A Midsummer Night's Dream" and "Les Enfants du
Paradis". His film roles include Merchant Ivory's "Maurice",
Charles Sturridge's "A Handful of Dust" and "Where Angels
Fear to Tread", Louis Malle's "Damage" and Nick Hynter's
"The Madness of King George", Scott Mitchell's "Innocent
Sleep" and a starring role in Richard Spence's "Different
for Girls", this year's winner of America's Grand Prix
award.
Rupert Graves on Harold
Guppy:

because he's looking for the home he's never

Matthew Walker
Walker was brought up in
Nottinghamshire and emigrated to Montreal, Canada in 1965,
at age 23. He received a BA in Theatre at the University of
British Columbia and settled in Vancouver. Walker is known
as Mr. March in Gillian Armstrong's "Little Women". His
other leading film roles include "Intersection", by Mark
Rydell, "Cool Running", by Jon Turtleaub, "Stay Tuned", by
Peter Hyams and "We're No Angels", by Neil Jordan. He has
worked in TV movies and such TV series as "The X-Files",
"The Marshall", "Highlander", "Bill and Ted's Excellent
Adventure" and "Glory Days".
Laura Sadler
When she was featured in "Six
Characters in Search of An Author", at the National Theatre,
Laura Sadler gained recognition, especially when actor
Dustin Hoffman went backstage asking to meet her. Sadler's
other films include "Coming Home, Jane Eyre" and a lead role
in "The Sahara Project". She has appeared in television and
has won a scholarship for Sylvia Young Theatre School in
London. At age 14, Sadler performs the character of Joyce
Beasley in "Intimate Relations".
Laura Sadler on Joyce
Beasley:
"Joyce's mother hasn't told her
anything so she is a complete innocent. She wants to do what
her mother is doing because she thinks if her 'Mum' can do
it then she can as well".
